Pitch and formant shifting

UNI-PITCH 피치 이동과 포먼트 보정을 빠르게 제어하는 보컬/악기 pitch processor입니다.

Pitch가 음정 이동량을 정하고, Formant가 성도 길이 인상을 보정합니다. Quality는 반응 속도, 처리 해상도, 호스트 레이턴시 정책을 선택하고, Quantize는 Pitch를 반음 단위로 고정합니다.

Interface Operation

1Main Knob

큰 Pitch 노브는 semitone 단위의 음정 이동량을 조절합니다. 음악적인 보컬/악기는 안정적이지만, 말소리처럼 pitch가 약한 소스는 큰 이동에서 grain이 드러날 수 있습니다.

The large Pitch knob controls semitone shift amount. Sung vocals and instruments are more stable; low-pitch speech can expose grain at large shifts.

2Value Display

숫자 표시창은 현재 값을 정확한 단위로 보여줍니다. 클릭하면 직접 입력할 수 있고, Enter 또는 포커스 해제로 커밋됩니다. Escape는 편집 전 값으로 되돌립니다. 노브나 표시창을 더블 클릭하면 기본값으로 리셋됩니다.

The value display shows the exact value and unit. Click it to type a value; Enter or blur commits it. Escape restores the previous value. Double-click the knob or display to reset to default.

3Lower Controls

하단 컨트롤은 Formant, Quality, Quantize입니다. Formant는 목소리 크기와 성도 길이 인상을 보정하고, Quality는 처리 투명도와 반응의 균형, Quantize는 pitch 값을 step에 맞춥니다.

The lower controls are Formant, Quality, and Quantize. Formant adjusts perceived vocal size, Quality balances transparency and response, and Quantize snaps pitch values to steps.

4Mix Slider

오른쪽 세로 Mix 슬라이더는 처리음과 원음의 비율을 정합니다. 위로 올릴수록 처리음이 전면으로 나오고, 아래로 내릴수록 원음의 중심과 transient가 더 많이 남습니다. 트랙 보정은 낮은 Mix가 자연스럽고, 완전한 효과 또는 유틸리티 처리는 100%가 기준입니다.

The vertical Mix slider controls the processed/dry balance. Higher values bring the processed signal forward; lower values keep more dry center and transient identity. Lower Mix is often natural for track enhancement, while full effects or utility use usually starts at 100%.

Quick Start

Workflow

  1. Pitch를 먼저 맞추고 정확한 반음 이동이 필요하면 Quantize를 켭니다.
  2. Formant로 목소리 크기와 캐릭터가 과하게 변하지 않게 보정합니다.
  3. 실시간 연주에는 FAST/LIVE, 일반 편집에는 BAL, 최종 품질에는 HQ/ULTRA를 기준으로 비교합니다.
  4. Mix는 효과 목적이 아니라면 100% wet 기준으로 확인합니다.
  1. Set Pitch first and enable Quantize when exact semitone movement is required.
  2. Use Formant so perceived voice size and character do not over-shift.
  3. Compare FAST/LIVE for performance, BAL for general editing, and HQ/ULTRA for final quality.
  4. Check at 100% wet unless a parallel effect is intended.

Listening Focus

항상 bypass와 같은 라우드니스에서 비교하십시오. 노브를 크게 움직이기보다 소스의 중심, 트랜지언트, 공간 위치가 어떻게 바뀌는지 먼저 확인하는 것이 더 안전합니다.

Always compare against bypass at matched loudness. Instead of making large moves immediately, first listen for changes in source focus, transient shape, and spatial placement.

피치 시프팅은 time-frequency 해상도의 tradeoff를 가집니다. 보컬 음악 소스는 안정적이지만, 무성 speech와 강한 transient에서는 grain이나 분리감이 더 쉽게 드러납니다.

Pitch shifting always trades time and frequency resolution. Sung vocal material is more stable, while unvoiced speech and sharp transients expose grain or separation more easily.

Engine Notes

Output Integrity

공통 보호 설계는 단순 샘플 피크뿐 아니라 재구성 피크, 내부 레이턴시 정렬, dry/wet 위상 안정성을 함께 고려합니다. Safety 또는 LIMIT 경로는 true peak ceiling 검증을 기준으로 관리됩니다.

The shared protection design considers reconstructed peaks, internal latency alignment, and dry/wet phase stability. Safety and LIMIT paths are validated against true-peak ceiling behavior.

Session Stability

오디오 스레드는 파라미터 스무딩, denormal flush, hot-path 수학 연산 축소, 실시간/오프라인 렌더 QA를 기준으로 관리됩니다. 긴 세션과 빠른 오토메이션에서도 클릭, CPU 스파이크, true peak 누수를 줄이는 것을 목표로 합니다.

The audio thread is checked for parameter smoothing, denormal flushing, reduced hot-path math, and realtime/offline render QA. The goal is lower click risk, fewer CPU spikes, and controlled true-peak behavior during long sessions and fast automation.

Philosophy & Technology

UNI-PITCH는 단순히 키를 올리고 내리는 이펙터가 아니라, 음정(Pitch)과 성도/구강 구조(Formant)를 분리해 다루는 음색 디자인 도구입니다.

QLAUDIO의 설계 철학은 "원음을 지우는 변조"가 아니라 "캐릭터를 재설계하는 변조"에 있습니다. Pitch로 음정의 축을 이동시키고, Formant로 입술과 성도의 크기감을 재배치해 보컬의 성별 질감 전환, 몬스터 보이스, 트렌디한 보컬 찹(Vocal Chop)까지 직관적으로 만들어낼 수 있습니다.

Quality와 Quantize는 실전 운영의 핵심 축입니다. Quality는 FAST/LIVE/BAL/HQ/ULTRA의 5단계 디텐트로 동작합니다. 실시간에서는 FAST와 LIVE가 각각 더 짧은 호스트 레이턴시를 보고하고, BAL/HQ/ULTRA는 더 긴 고품질 처리 영역을 사용합니다. 비실시간 렌더는 품질 모드에 관계없이 최대 렌더 프로파일로 고정되어 결과의 일관성을 유지합니다. 품질 전환 시 레이턴시/PDC 변경은 메시지 스레드에서 적용되고 내부 dry/wet 정렬은 짧은 크로스페이드로 이어집니다. Quantize는 Pitch 경로를 반음 단위로 스냅하며 Formant는 연속 제어를 유지합니다.

UNI-PITCH is not just a key-shift effect. It is a tone design tool that separates Pitch movement from Formant shaping in real time.

QLAUDIO's philosophy is not "destructive modulation," but "character redesign." Use Pitch to move musical note center, then reshape vocal-tract impression with Formant for gender morphing, monster voice textures, and modern vocal chop aesthetics with immediate control.

Quality and Quantize define the practical workflow extremes. Quality is a 5-step detented control (FAST/LIVE/BAL/HQ/ULTRA). In real time, FAST and LIVE report progressively shorter host latency, while BAL/HQ/ULTRA use the longer high-quality processing domain. Non-real-time renders use the maximum render profile regardless of the selected mode for deterministic output. Latency/PDC changes are applied from the message thread, and internal dry/wet alignment moves through a short crossfade. Quantize snaps Pitch to semitone steps while Formant remains continuously controllable.

Control Guide (How to Use)

Pitch

Main Knob

역할: 입력 신호의 기본 음정을 -12에서 +12 semitone 범위로 이동시킵니다.

음향적 변화: 노브를 올리면 음정이 위로 상승하며 밝고 가벼운 인상이 강해지고, 내리면 낮고 무게감 있는 톤으로 이동합니다. Quantize가 켜져 있으면 피치가 반음 단위로 딱딱하게 점프해 오토튠/로봇 질감이 강조됩니다.

Role: Shifts the base pitch of the incoming signal across -12 to +12 semitones.

Acoustic Change: Turning up raises note center with a lighter, brighter character; turning down pushes the tone lower and heavier. With Quantize enabled, motion snaps to strict semitone steps for a robotic auto-tune style contour.

Formant

Timbre

역할: 음정과 별개로 성도/구강 공명 구조를 이동시켜 음색의 체형감을 조절합니다.

음향적 변화: 값을 올리면 입술·성도가 작아진 듯한 가벼운 캐릭터로, 내리면 공명 공간이 커진 듯한 두껍고 깊은 캐릭터로 변합니다. Quantize ON 상태에서도 Formant는 반음 스냅 없이 연속적으로 동작합니다.

Role: Moves vocal-tract resonance independently from musical pitch to reshape timbral body.

Acoustic Change: Positive values make the source feel smaller and tighter, while negative values enlarge resonance for deeper, heavier body. Formant remains continuous even when Quantize is enabled.

Quality

Fidelity/Response

역할: 내부 피치/포먼트 처리 해상도와 분석 안정성을 5단계(FAST/LIVE/BAL/HQ/ULTRA)로 전환해 응답성과 음질의 균형점을 선택합니다.

음향적 변화: FAST(0%)는 가장 짧은 실시간 레이턴시와 가벼운 처리를, ULTRA(100%)는 가장 긴 분석 창을 사용해 안정적인 배음 보존과 큰 피치 이동의 매끄러움을 목표로 합니다. 실시간에서는 각 단계의 실제 처리 지연을 DAW에 보고하며, 비실시간 렌더는 선택값과 무관하게 최대 품질 프로파일을 사용합니다.

Role: Switches the internal pitch/formant processing profile across 5 detented stages (FAST/LIVE/BAL/HQ/ULTRA) to balance response, latency, and fidelity.

Acoustic Change: FAST (0%) uses the shortest real-time latency and lightest processing, while ULTRA (100%) uses the longest analysis window for maximum harmonic stability and smoother large shifts. In real time, each stage reports its actual processing delay to the DAW; non-real-time renders always use the maximum-quality profile.

Quantize

Snap

역할: Pitch 이동을 가장 가까운 반음(Semitone)으로 강제 스냅합니다.

음향적 변화: 연속적인 글라이드가 사라지고 계단식으로 딱딱 끊기는 움직임이 생기며, 기계적으로 음정이 오르내리는 특수 효과가 강해집니다. 이 동작은 Pitch에만 적용되며 Formant에는 적용되지 않습니다.

Role: Forces pitch movement to the nearest semitone.

Acoustic Change: Smooth glides are replaced by rigid stepwise transitions, creating the classic mechanical stair-stepping character associated with hard-tuned robotic effects. This applies to Pitch only, not Formant.

Mix

Blend

역할: 가공된 Wet 신호와 원본 Dry 신호의 비율을 0~100%에서 조절합니다.

음향적 변화: 100%에서 완전한 캐릭터 변조를, 낮은 값에서는 원본 어택과 명료도를 유지한 병렬 피치/포먼트 블렌드를 얻을 수 있습니다.

Role: Balances processed Wet signal against original Dry signal from 0% to 100%.

Acoustic Change: At 100% you hear full character transformation; lower settings retain original transient clarity while layering controlled pitch/formant coloration in parallel.
